PDC Graduates Get Together Celebration Weekend

Permaculture Sydney Institute is calling all PDC graduates to a “Celebration Party and Get Together” to celebrate 40 years of Permaculture. And what better way is there to celebrate an anniversary birthday than to have a party! The get together weekend will be held at Bandusia Country Retreat in March where graduates will be able to relax, refresh, regroup, recalibrate, refocus and revitalize all around the theme of Permaculture.

Spring Permabee – Kitchen Garden Bandusia Country Retreat

The Spring Permabee (the first Sunday in Sept) is focussed on the kitchen gardens in zone 1 of Bandusia Country Retreat. This area is Bandusia’s kitchen garden and supplies food for the students and visitors throughout the year. It includes a kitchen garden, a herb garden, aquaponics system, a bush tucker garden, a quail system and more. The day’s tasks include weeding the gardens, propagation, fertilising, mulching, planting, composting, quail management, aquaponics maintenance, wicking beds and generally cleaning and tidying…

Permaculture Gardening Weekend

For those that want a taste of permaculture, a country weekend getaway and a wanting to implement permaculture at home, school or community garden.  The workshop is both theoretical and practical with some time in the garden to learn about plant propagation, composting and other gardening skills

Learn about the basic concepts of permaculture as well as its design principles, systems, techniques and strategies and everything you need to know to create and enjoy your own permaculture home garden.

Natural Building Workshop – Earthbag, Bottle Building and Rendering Workshop

October 2 - October 4

Over this long weekend you will be building an outdoor garden circular bench seat and bottle wall. You will be constructing the bench seat from earthbags and render then constructing the back wall of the bench seat with bottles and render. It’s a creative project that involves a range of different natural building skills and learning.

Vertical Gardening Workshop

Wicking Pot and Worm Farm Garden Workshop

October 23 @ 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

This workshop will show you how to make your on vertical “polypipe” garden for your vegetables and herbs. Part A of the workshop (9am to 1pm) covers the introduction of the polypipe system. PART B of the workshop (1.30 to 5pm) is for those that want to make their own poly-pipe system on-site, under instruction from the trainer.

Beekeeping Workshop

Beekeeping for Beginners

This introductory one day workshop will walk you through the information you need to ensure you are a responsible bee keeping, demystifying what can appear to be a complex and challenging art. Whether you are an urban garden or broadacre farmer, a practicing beekeeper or a total beginner, you will definitely benefit from this workshop. The workshop includes both theory and practical sessions. Participants will get hands on experience opening and handling a hive.

Summer Permabee – Market Garden PSI Farm

The Summer permabee (the first Sunday in December) is spent on the PSI Farm in the Mandala Garden which is PSI’s commercial (zone 1) market garden that adjoins Bandusia Retreat. The mandala garden supplies local community food boxes and food to Bandusia. The day’s tasks involve weeding, fertilising, mulching, composting, propagating, planting and more. Geodesic Dome Workshop

About this workshop This workshop will provide both theory about Geodesic Domes and practical hands on experience with them.
