The Permaculture Sydney Institute Farm Share Program provides a taste of the country so people can try before they buy. Access to land is often the only imperative preventing people from farming and this program along with the Farm Skills Workshops enables people to obtain vital skills to make their transition to the country smoother. Help and support will be provided through the process with workshops, on-site advice and assistance, and back up services such as watering, mulching when people can’t get to their allotment.
The project aims to provide people with; access to land, access to knowledge and resources, access to training and education to provide individuals who are keen on developing their organic food growing skills with the opportunity to learn on their own patch of land!
The project will offer a number of ¼ acre plots on a permaculture property – Pumpkin Farm near St Albans, NSW. Each plot will have its own water tank, compost bays and storage space, and be safely fenced from surrounding livestock. Successful applicants will need to have a permaculture mindset, be committed to the experience and be willing to contribute financially to their Farm patch.
We had unprecedented interest in our sneak post regarding the Farm Share opportunity so we are asking all applicants to complete a form to submit for our review so we can shortlist candidates. It’s important to us that anybody who participates in the Farm Share experience will be committed and utilize this opportunity to the full.
