With Pat Collins, make your own natural organic first aid kit from natures finest plants – weeds. Turn your weeds into effective valuable lotions and medicinal potions. Walk away with hundreds of dollars of products and save money. Know your weeds and understand their virtues for medicine; food and nutrition; skin care, soils and landscape.
About the workshop
For centuries weeds have been used for medicinal purposes and to make personal products. Nature has a medicine chest right at our backdoor. Weeds are natures wonders. They have many important functions in nourishing and regenerating our bodies as well as our soils, animals and landscapes. You will learn about the useful roles weeds play at this workshop. You will learn to identify weeds as well as collect and prepare weeds to make your own medicinal chest.
You will leave the course with new skills, knowledge and confidence to make your own medicinal products into the future. You will be a more self-reliant producer instead of a dependant consumer in this area and you will also save money.

Pat was born and raised on dairy farms in the Upper Hunter area. Here she developed her deep love of the land and the understanding of nature’s laws. Her dearest memories of her youth are her barefooted hikes around the sand stone hills with the farm dogs and the rich smell of wattle in the air.
After nine years of Clerical work she married Bryant Collins and settled in a remote little valley surrounded by Wollombi National Park. Here they tried to be as self-sufficient as possible building their house, growing their own organic vegetables and fruit, milking the cow, robbing the bees and making any number of natural items. The birth of their two children Glen and Kim encouraged Pat to look at self-sufficient ways of looking after their health. She completed her Diploma in Herbal Medicine in 1989 as well as Diplomas in Biochemistry and Iridology (QINS).
When her daughter asked to visit the local doctor’s surgery just to see what it looked like she realised that other people may also wish to understand nature’s remedies. Courses started at Denman and spread throughout the Upper Hunter (and other parts of NSW) to not only larger centres but also the smaller communities. In the last 20 years she has taught many hundreds of students who in turn have taught her many valuable lessons.
Pat has written 7 books (the first 2 are now combined into 1) and has a DVD on Practical Home Healing. She has an extensive range of medicinal and cosmetic products available at her practice and by mail order, and a website and webshop at www.patcollins.com.au
Pat grows many herbs at home, and is a great example of living healthy and having boundless energy. Her practice as a “Holistic Herbalist” is at Muswellbrook.
