Rosters are worth their weight in gold, if you get a good one. Here at PSI, we breed the most beautiful Roosters and find good homes for them. They are free however our standards of a good home are high. The roosters are very handsome, friendly and well mannered with the ladies. Your rooster will find morsels for your hens; mediate disputes and keep peace in the flock; protect and defend your hens against predators and provide you with a range of gardening products and services. So, if you would like one you can apply but you need to assure us you have:
- Adequate housing that is fox, snake and go-anna proof;
- That he will be able to range freely regularly with his hens in a food forest or garden;
- That you will feed him properly – not just kitchen scraps;
- That you are able to keep him in good health for example prevent and control worms with garlic, treat his legs with olive oil and Vaseline monthly for scale leg and check him for lice and mites and powder him if necessary.
- He must have a dust bath and grit;
- And finally, you and his hens must love him.
