PSI will be hosting the first of many Crafternoons at beautiful Bandusia Saturday 15th April from 1pm–5pm. Crafternoons are an opportunity to get together to learn, share, play, relax, create, learn, teach and grow. Bring a creative project of your choosing or work with the theme of the day. Bring your own materials or use what’s on hand or around us.

weavingIf you have ever wanted to learn how to weave from those vines growing all over your shed, or wanted to make your own Easter basket and decorate it with feathers found in the garden, then come along to Bandusia and spend some time experimenting and relaxing. We will be running our first weaving workshop for beginners on Sat 15th of April from 1-5 p.m. A delicious afternoon tea will be provided and we welcome homegrown food to share or swap. A $10 donation will cover expenses.

Here are a list of materials that you could bring, but these are only suggestions — feel free to bring any materials you think could work. We will have some provided as well. Our first Crafternoon begins with weaving.

  • Thin branches of privet
  • Bamboo (leaves and stem)
  • Flax
  • Any willow
  • Dried flowers or leaves
  • Vines
  • Strong reeds and grasses

earringsEvery few months we will run skill share sessions where the community can learn new skills and creative ways to use natural earth materials, all the while enjoying each other’s company and the peaceful surroundings. The sessions can be run by anyone who feels they have a skill they would like to share and to be hosted at Bandusia.

Depending on the creative occasion, we may ask you to forage for some materials that you can use in the workshop. This will enable us to offer a free event that can be accessible to anyone. Of course we will try our hardest to always have enough materials for everyone.

There is more knowledge and experience collectively in a group than any one individual. A group can also accelerate your learning. Crafternoon is where the group becomes the expert so let it guide, teach and nurture you.

We welcome homegrown food to share with the group or to be swapped in our shop. We offer honey, preserves, jams, nuts, vinegar, seasonal fruit and veg and baked goods for purchase or trade.

Everyone is welcome and we especially encourage new local residents to attend. For more info email us on info@permaculturesydneyinstitute.orgor call on 4568 2036.
